Yesterday I was at my bi-weekly popquiz, and we were blessed with the delightful 3rd round: TV and movies. Guess the tv-show or movie and theme song. Easy peasy, eh!
Or not.
I messed up badly guessing 'Desperate Housewives' and Danny Elfman's theme song, when fact of the matter it was actually Thomas Newman's 'Six Feet Under' - and me and my partner in crime ended up looking like the sad bunch themselves (below).
So, I admit the defeat and being owned at my own game - but was I really that off track? Listen for yourself, and be a better guesser than I am (obviously). And don't cheat!
It's been two years since the Swedish duo Johnossi released their self-titled debutalbum, and a good way to celebrate that is to release their (my-)awaited second:
'All They Ever Wanted'
Out right about now.. There's a lot of things to do before you die, so check out their first single 'Party With My Pain' now and/or below.
PS: If you don't like Jack White, don't push the button ;)
The boys are back in town, and we've all been waiting with arms wide open! Join me in Death Cab for Cutie!
'I Will Possess Your Heart' is first single of the Death Cab For Cutie album, 'Narrow Stairs'. released on this very day.
Don't be startled or dissapointed by the seemingly long psychedelic intro to this over 8 minute (!) long song. (If you are, please tell why.) Have Death Cab gone Smallville on us, have they gotten back to their roots or are they smoking the same shit Guillemots appear to be inhaling these days - these are all thoughts that've been going through atleast my head for some time.
Let's dive in:
I've listened to the song a few times now. It might seem slow moving at first (hence the 8 minutes), but then the song really kicks in when Ben Gibbard starts to sing.
You gotta spend some time - love, you gotta spend some time with me And I know that you'll find - love, I will possess your heart
And you just might.
Somewhat slow moving, somewhat dark, driving and mystic. Death Cab continues to mess with my mind (this is good). I can't wait for the album release in May.
By the way, the single version is supposedly 4 minutes shorter than the album version. So that rules that instrumental-thingy out for those not in favor.
'Make Mistakes' is the London-boys' first (and awaited) single from their forthcoming sophmore album 'Universe in Reverse'.
If you didn't like 'We Are Not The Infadels', maybe you'll like this. Or maybe you'll get screwed. Anywho, it makes my left foot wanna jig. Sounding like?
Check out the single on the band's MySpace-page (yes, I know autoplay is a pain). Official release date is April 14th.
... or smitten with Danish pop band Alphabeat and their 'Fascination'.
The song was released as the band's debut single in Denmark last summer, but hasn't caught my attention until it's current UK-release last week. It's über-happy, upbeat and sure to make you smile on the most rainy day.
Alphabeat has got to be the cutest band in Denmark, Scandinavia, Europe, THE WORLD!
